Has struggled through the last few seasons despite an ongoing rib injury, sciatica and other hamstring and knee problems. Mashy's fitness is always a crucial issue and has been even more problematic in 2002/3 when his role was limited. The constant pain may also explain his often irritable temper on the pitch, but he must improve his discipline if he is to remain a regular starter at City. May well be released in the summer and sadly the last season's petulant behaviour will cloud the memory of the vital contribution he made in the previous two campaigns. Marshall was a versatile squad man who played anywhere on the left of midfield or in attack. At his best a useful ball player who has been an important part of several promotion winning sides over the years. Marshall can change games with clever passes and is more than capable of mixing it and relishes his frequent midfield scraps. Gets forward well from midfield and hit a bizarre hatrick at Rocester in 2001 that included a penalty, a tap-in and a goal direct from a corner - yet still saw us lose.

Marshall began his career in boys football with Paganhill and was then an apprentice at Coventry where he won the FA Youth Cup. Then gained league experience with Swindon and Cambridge before heading into the south-west non-league circuit. Was involved in a serious car crash in April 1996, but showed a lot of courage to rebuild his career through periods in local football. Has found himself passed over at several clubs and found it difficult to settle until arriving at Meadow Park.
