Pen Pic:
A useful left sided attacking midfield player who joined Gloucester via Bath City, having been released by Forest Green in August. Rejoins former Forest Green team mate Chris Burns whose presence at Meadow Park was the vital factor in Prince's original decision to sign.
His start at City was initially disrupted by an achilles injury, but Prince soon made the most of his chance to show his class. A darting, fleet footed player with some neat tricks and a good turn of pace. His exciting runs and ability to beat defenders made him an instant crowd favourite. Although he came to the club as a winger Prince has also shown some real quality playing up front. Without doubt a flair player, but also impressed through his work rate and willingness to chase lost causes for the team. Scored a cracker at Clevedon in December during a two month spell when his form really peaked with a series of match winning performances, but must feel some disappointment with a goal return that does not fully reflect his contribution to City's attack over the year. His displays soon attracted the interest of plenty of scouts and sadly the attention seemed to distract him as while still clearly a cut above most of the rest of the division Luke struggled to maintain his best form as the season concluded.
Prince is an Oxford based player who spent a year as a pro at Villa without breaking out of reserve team football. Had trials at Wrexham and St. Johnstone before a brief spell at Forest Green where he never really settled. Since arriving at City he has had a trial spell at Stoke City and was also trailed by Crewe Alexandra. Boosted his status at City by rejecting higher money offers from Weston, Newbury and Chippenham to see out the season at Meadow Park. Was offered a contract at City for 2002/3 and turned down Woking and Chippenham to drop down to the Screwfix Western League with Team Bath while studying at Bath college.
