Did enough at Gloucester to suggest he could become a really good quality
player if his confidence ever gets chance to grow.
Abbo is a strong man marker, good in the air and puts in good challenges, although as yet his
positioning is still at times a little naive. Began the 2000/1
campaign struggling to get into the side but looked more comfortable when given
a chance in his preferred midfield role. Left City in summer 2001 having returned to London at
the end of his college course. Spent two seasons with Carshalton in Ryman One
before switching across to Kent League side Sevenoaks in summer 2003.
Was a real find for Brian Hughes having been recommended by Abbott's former Croydon boss Brian Baker. Abbott moved to the area to do a
Sport & Exercise Science course at the C&G Higher Education College. In an ideal world
would have been given a few months in the reserves to acclimatise before finding
himself in the first team, but instead made his debut within a few weeks of appearing
at training.
Began his career training with Charlton Athletic before being picked up from
Sunday League football by Croydon, then playing in the Isthmian Division 1. Has also played
reserve football for Dulwich Hamlet and has been for trials with the British
Universities side.
