T-Ender City MotM: This was all about team graft and no single player shone, but skipper Neil Mustoe deserves credit for a solid game in an unfamiliar position at the centre of a flat back four.

grass trim rule

A late, late Jack Pitcher header from close range was just enough to see City through to the last qualifying round of the FA Trophy a\t the expense of lower division Hillingdon Borough who made life difficult for Gloucester throughout both of these hard fought ties. This replay was everything the first match wasn't - chances were few and far between in a tight, scrappy match that offered little spectacle to warm a sparse attendance. For all of that City dug in and battled as hard as the opposition, showing just enough extra quality to shade the game and deserve their win. And this is cup football and if it wasn't a good match it was a great result - and sometimes winning ugly is just what is required.

City at Hillingdon
Look no fans. City and Hillingdon battle grimly in the wintry gloom - and no, the lights weren't very good!

Team Selection:

Tim Harris may have found his options limited, but even so he opted for a bold team selection. The 4-4-2 line-up saw skipper Neil Mustoe pressed into service as a centre-back with Jamie Reid and Alex Allard back in as orthodox full-backs. Jody Bevan stepped up his comeback with a first start of the season his reward for that crucial equaliser on Saturday, while Jack Pitcher's groin problem has improved enough for him to take a place on the bench. There was also a first appearance on the bench for cover keeper Elliott Seddon, doubtless intended to give him a taste of first team action ahead of a possible debut at Clevedon next weekend.

Anorak Corner:

Adie Harris' brief appearance means the diminutive veteran paceman has now appeared for City in nine different seasons. That's one more campaign than Tom Webb can currently boast, and just one behind than the ten seasons that Gary Kemp chalked up.
